Post 1 – Strong Start to Neighbourhood Policing Week Neighbourhood Policing Week Gets Off to a Strong Start in Harrow Neighbourhood Policing Week has begun in Harrow in exactly the way our communities would expect – with visible policing, proactive engagement and decisive action to keep residents safe. From the very first day, Harrow’s local officers have been out across the borough, speaking with residents, addressing concerns and taking firm action against those involved in criminality. In just two days, Harrow’s local officers have made eleven arrests. Behind each of these is a clear outcome – safer streets, protected victims and a stronger sense of confidence within our communities. Visible Policing Delivering Results On Monday 15 June, Harrow’s local officers were patrolling Harrow Town Centre, maintaining a reassuring presence and engaging directly with members of the public. During this time, they addressed anti-social behaviour, speaking with individuals and taking appropriate action to maintain order in a busy town centre. As is often the case, this visible presence led to something more significant. Following routine checks, Harrow’s local officers identified one individual as being wanted for a serious offence involving the taking of a vehicle without consent. He was swiftly arrested and taken into custody. This is a strong example of how visible neighbourhood policing works – what may begin as a simple interaction can lead to the identification and arrest of those linked to more serious offences. Acting Quickly to Protect Victims Later that day, Harrow’s local officers were carrying out targeted patrols along Northolt Road following recent reports of robbery. Their presence made an immediate difference when a victim reported an attempted robbery involving threats and the attempted theft of a high value item. Harrow’s local officers acted quickly to protect and reassure the victim, secure key evidence and identify those responsible. Both suspects were swiftly located and arrested. This is policing at its most effective – being present, responding quickly and ensuring those responsible are held to account.
Post 2 – Continued Momentum and Keeping Harrow Safe Sustained Activity Across Harrow The same energy and commitment continued into Tuesday 16 June, with Harrow’s local officers maintaining a strong presence across our neighbourhoods and continuing to take action to protect the public. In HA7, Harrow’s local officers carried out enforcement activity, resulting in the arrest of four individuals for immigration-related offences. This forms part of ongoing work with partners to address vulnerability and maintain community safety. Supporting Local Businesses Harrow’s local officers continue to work closely with local businesses, particularly in areas affected by shoplifting. During patrols at a known hotspot, Harrow’s local officers were approached by shop staff following a theft that had just taken place. Acting immediately, they identified the suspect as someone linked to several offences across Harrow. The individual was quickly located and arrested, providing immediate reassurance to staff and demonstrating the value of strong local partnerships. Remaining Vigilant, Protecting the Vulnerable Throughout these patrols, Harrow’s local officers remained alert and responsive. This included identifying and arresting an individual for shoplifting during patrol activity, as well as taking decisive action in relation to serious offences such as stalking and malicious communications. Harrow’s local officers also located and arrested an individual who had failed to attend court for an assault offence, reinforcing a simple message – those who commit offences will be pursued and brought before the courts. Putting Communities First Neighbourhood Policing Week shines a light on the work that takes place every day across Harrow. It is not just about enforcement, but about being visible, listening to residents and responding to local concerns. Behind every arrest and every patrol is a clear focus – preventing crime, protecting victims and maintaining trust and confidence in local policing. Harrow’s local officers will continue to be out in your communities, providing reassurance and taking action where it matters most, making a real difference every day. | ||
